Authentic Marinara Sauce
This is the simplest and most basic Italian marinara sauce. It can be used on pasta, pizza, and for dipping. Although it contains no extra sugar, but does have a kick! This basic sauce can always be made into a meat sauce by adding ground beef or sausage. You can also turn this sauce into an Arrabiata sauce by adding more crushed red pepper or Tobasco sauce.
1 28 oz can of crushed tomatoes
1/4 cup of olive oil
1/4 teaspoon of crushed red pepper
3 cloves of garlic, grated
1/2 cup of chopped white onion
1/4 teaspoon of dried oregano
8 drops of Tobasco sauce
In medium sauce pan, add the olive oil and sautee the galic, onions and red pepper for 4-5 minutes over medium heat. Add the crushed tomatoes, the oregano and the Tobasco sauce, simmer for 5-7 minutes. Serve your marinara sauce on pasta, pizza, or use for dipping.
